L Woods, a native New Yorker, is an all-around mover and shaker! She began her formal training (with her mother’s enthusiastic encouragement) at the Ruth Williams Dance Studio where she studied Ballet, Modern, African, and Jazz for 12 years. During this time, she also had the opportunity to study at The Dance Theater of Harlem and Uptown Dance Academy. Although committed to social work and studies in the African diaspora and women centered issues; she continued to pursue dancing in college as a proud member and Vice President of the Black Dance Repertoire student organization. Mimi joined Forces in 2007 and is proud to be a member of the company. She loves to use dance as a form of self healing, story telling, and as an artistic expression of social justice with an emphasis on ensuring that our narratives continue to transfer through generations! L Woods would like to thank her family and friends for all of their love and support! Let's dance!
